This is a collection of every document, publication, audio or video clip, news articles, scientific report and any other possible files from the energy transformation on Samso, the small island in the middle of Denmark, which completely converted it's energy supply to renewables in less than ten years from 1997 to 2000.
Samsø is currently trying to convert the use of fossil fuel to alternative energy solutions. Our strategy was to go for the low hanging fruits. The greatest challenge in the conversion was the transport sector, which is why the next logical step means converting the transport sector towards the new ambition: making Samsø completely fossil free by 2030. Samsø is once again trying to be a front-runner in the development of the Danish transport sector.
During the seven years that the Energy Academy has existed, we have experienced a growing demand for the specific data concerning the implemented projects regarding Samsø as Denmark’s Renewable Energy Island. Our intention with the creation of the Energy Institute’s archive is to pass on our knowledge and data to the relevant target groups.

By ”user” we refer to both individuals and communities. The title “Energy Institute” is an open working title, since Samsø Energy Academy is establishing an organization of knowledge. We have digitalized all our documentation, experiments and reports from 1997 and onwards. In the future, the archive is to be connected to an E-learning platform.
To start using the Energy Institute, simply search for your desired documents, or start browsing by the various categories found in the top menu.
